Main Ingredient – Euphrates River / Afrodisiac CD (Expansion)

The Main Ingredient have made a huge contribution to the success of this genre over the years, especially the 70s and 80s. Only a few of their hits have been re-issued over the years, and classics such as “Just Don’t Want To be Lonely” and “Everybody Plays The Fool” have been on compilations, but these complete albums have  been a challenge to find on CD

“Afrodisiac” was released in 1973 and has become a firm favourite with fans. It established Cuba Gooding as a master balladeer while virtually establishing the ‘quiet storm’ on an album considered as tribute to Stevie Wonder with a combination of three readings and three new songs composed especially. “Euphrates River” and was more commercially successful than Afrodisiac” and includes another of their biggest hits, “Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely”. “Looks Like Rain” is a modern soul favourite enjoying spins to this day. Brian Auger’s “Happiness Is Just Around The Bend” also enjoyed a revival by the group when Cuba Gooding’s solo version of the song was released in 1983 produced by Arthur Baker.

 Both albums feature the lead vocals of Cuba Gooding, the voice of all the group’s major hits over the years and father to Hollywood actor, Cuba Gooding Jr. – Expansion
