New York indie label Brent released only the occasional soul side but the company’s tape vaults have yielded black music gold.
‘Praying For The Rain To Come’ by Dave Crawford was scheduled to be the flip of his ‘Millionaire’ 45 but that record seems to exist only as double A-sided demos. It is a standout track with a very unusual structure and features an awesome girl group. Jazz singer Jeannie Trevor’s tough version of Johnny Payne’s popcorn biggie, ‘Tinklin’ Bells’, is sure to be popular with DJs on the R&B circuit.
