Born In Albany GA. Around 1971, Willie Moody is a prominent singer known for his contributions to gospel music, in around the church and was recognised for his contribution by the Georgia Music Association.
Moody’s career included stints with the P&W Trio Paul Montgomery, Willie Moody and Morris Curmbley (Paul and Willie are both Blind Musicians) and he performed with the popular Mississippi Blind Boys from 2012-2014, but his first musical love has always been the gospel music of his church. He has been the music director at Shiloh Baptist Church in Albany since 2016. Moody, who was robbed of his sight by retinoblastoma at an early age, is no stranger to the spotlight. After being tutored by renowned Albany musician/educator Egbert Bacon, Moody twice opened for Ray Charles when the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer performed in Albany. The Albany artist also performed on the White House lawn for luminaries that included President George W. Bush.
These tracks were originally recorded for an EP release, but unfortunately they never made a release. Manny Campbell used to travel with Willie as a performer and managed him briefly. But when he got a musical director position at his church and a lot of gospel gigs started coming, they paused release of songs because he didn’t want it to conflict with his new position. According to Manny Campbell, these tracks were recorded somewhere between 1988 and 1992 with Willie Moody, who had a good music relationship with Manny Campbell of Emandolynn Music and would demo music on occasion, and these are the unreleased examples of what came from those sessions. – Soul Direction
