Before George Clinton became a household name in funk circles, he was a regular 60s soul entrepreneur, writing and producing local New Jersey acts for various labels He and his co-writers were also signed up to Motown’s Jobete publishing arm and this great girly dancer was one of those creations. Released on Joe Evans’ Carnival imprint, the song has many followers and DJs pay high prices to add this one to their sets. Even more so knowing that the singer Tamala Lewis sang with the group. The Pretenders’ 1980 uptempo disco version of ‘It’s Everything About You I Love’ has rightly attracted much rare soul action in recent years, but the original from Lee Williams & The Cymbals now takes the spotlight.
