The formation of the Harthon label in the early sixties was the single most important event in the development of “the Sound of Philadelphia!” Outta Sight pay homage to the movers and shakers behind that sound which would eventually see Philadelphia emerge as the America capitol of Soul. Harthon Productions was founded by the late Weldon Arthur McDougal III (former singer with the Larks), Johnny Styles (former Manhattans band leader) and keyboard player Luther Randolph. Together they recruited local musicians and honed the “Sound” that would evolve into the famed MFSB, the backbone of the Gamble and Huff hit machine. Here, we present the very best of Harthon, classics, rarities and new-to-CD treats for all Northern Soul fans and collectors.
