SIDE A THE RUBAIYATS Omar Khayyam The only recording by session musicians The Rubaiyats. First played at Manchester’s Twisted Wheel on the UK Action label but originally recorded for US label Sansu in 1966. This hard-to-find original became a MOD and rare soul classic and has, in recent times, enjoyed a revival on the Northern Soul circuit. Written by Allen Toussaint, the track features Toussaint and Wille Harper, along with members of The Meters.

SIDE B JOHN WILLIAMS & THE TICK TOCKS Do Me Like You Do Me Another Sansu original also penned by label owner Allen Toussaint. John Williams, aka Scarface, first came to attention as one of Huey ‘Piano’ Smith’s Clowns. His music career was brought to a tragic and premature end when he was murdered in the 70s.
