The Song: “Cause My Lover’s Gone” – lyrics and melody written by Robert Paladino, in collaboration with a rhythm track created by Colin Watson – Robert is noted for his composition of “You Don’t Love Me” (YDLM), and “Where Were You”, recorded by The Epitome of Sound, on The Sandbag Label. YDLM is rated # 4 in The Northern Soul Top 500 Book, by Kev Roberts. In addition, Robert has recorded and released several doo-wop tracks, many of which he has written, with his group, The Brooks Four (aka, The Four Winds, The Teamates), performed on Radio and TV, and recorded for Nick Massi & Tommy DeVito of the Jersey Boys (The Four Seasons).

The Artist: Johnny Boy Pryers – UK Soul Singer, from Bolton, has been performing on the soul scene for over 20 years. The “Boy” has been entertaining, and dazzling audiences with his distinctive voice and interpretation of classic soul music at large scooter rallies, casual clubs, major soul events at the infamous Blackpool Tower, and always a featured artist at Butlin’s Skegness Soul Weekender. This annual event, hosted by Wigan Casino fame, DJ Legend and friend, Russ Winstanley, attracts soul loving crowds of more than 8,000. Johnny Boy performed CMLG, for the first time ever at Skegness in September of 2017. He has headlined with the best soul legends in the business, all too many to mention, but here are just a few; Tommy Hunt, Dean Parrish, Kim Weston, The Contours, Brenda Holloway, Archie Bell, The Vevellettes, Chris Clark, The Flirtations, and Martha Reeves.

The Production: “Cause My Lover’s Gone”(CMLG), featuring Johnny Boy Pryers, is produced by Robert Paladino. The recording of CMLG has been an International, Internet production from across the pond in the US, to Gracieland Studio in the UK, with the accomplished audio engineer, Steve Boyce-Buckley, and back to the US for recording of horns (2 trumpets and 1 flugelhorn), partially arranged by Robert, and heard throughout the track. An online hookup, allowed Robert to hear in real time, Johnny Boys lead vocal takes, and his BV’s recorded with his friend and UK singer, Babalola Ayodele Ehidiamen. Mixing and Mastering by Carl Dixon, UK. Johnny Boy has influenced so many Scooter enthusiasts at the many rallies, that it is so very natural to hear the scooter engine rev-up in the intro. Robert Paladino says he is very honored to have written and produced the first original song recorded by Johnny Boy!
The flip side, “Ethan’s Theme”, written and arranged by Robert Paladino, an instrumental by the Apple Heads, in tribute to Ethan Warren, and Lee Pryers, both gone from this earth, much too soon.

Project Team: Johnny Boy Pryers, UK, Johnny Redpants Warren, Australia, & Robert Paladino, US. A group of “under-dogs” with many soul fans and friends routing them on!
