Bobby Adams – What A Mess / Otis Rush – Homework 45 (Outta Sight) 7″ Vinyl

BOBBY ‘GRIER’ ADAMS signed to Juggy Murray’s Symbol Records in ‘59 and released four 45’s including our chosen side “What A Mess” (Symbol 911) in 1961.  Despite the quality of the material – check out his self-penned debut disc “Banjo Rock” – and his vocal ability Adams was unable to break the R&B Charts.  He went on to record for a number of labels inlcuding Tra-X where he scored his Northern Soul rarity “Dr Truelove” with Betty Lou.

OTIS RUSH’s fortunes couldn’t be more different from Bobby Adams. He rocketed to No.6 in the Billboard R&B chart with his first single, “I Can’t Quit You Baby”, and went on to establish himself as one of the premier Chicago bluesmen.  Here we feature his Duke rarity, “Homework” from 1962 – Outta Sight
