Record Store Day brings southern soul collectors another vinyl treat in the form of the first ever UK EP from the great Alabama soul man, Clarence Carter.
“I Found What I Wanted’ brings together four finished masters from Clarence’s 1971 sessions at FAME, recorded when he and his label were looking for a follow up hit to his global chart smash ‘Patches’.
Incredibly, three of them have gone unreleased for more than 40 years. All of them will have great appeal for fans of Southern Soul.
The title track has already had plays on the UK’s modern-crossover soul scene and is well known to collectors via versions by Mary Wells and its composer George Jackson.
With typical ‘period’ cover design, and a fantastic unpublished photo of Clarence on the cover.
