LITTLE ESTHER, aka Esther Phillips, is a familiar name to Northern; Modern and R&B soul fans alike having enjoyed a 25-year recording career. Featured here are two of her songs from 1953, by which time she had already released a slue of singles as a solo artist and originally with the Johnny Otis Orchestra. Both chosen sides are reissued for the first time and both are highly collectable. “Cherry Wine” was penned by Henry Glover and has been tearing up the dance floors across Europe for some years. The B-side “You Took My Love Too Fast” is an early Mike Stoller song that is currently changing hands for 3-figures, if you can find one.
Two superb jump blues stompers to get the dance floor moving.
