Northern Soul is the story of a youth culture in the 1970’s, which changed a generation.

No longer satisfied with the prospect of a small town life and a factory production line two young boys dream of going to America to discover rare records which will help them become the best DJ’s on the scene. This journey forces them to confront rivalry, violence and drug abuse and their friendship is tested to the limit.

This is Northern Soul.

Music drama centered around the American soul movement that developed in Northern England in the late 1960s and early ’70s. Set in a small town in North West England in 1974, the film follows two young friends who become disillusioned with their dreary lives when they are introduced to American soul music and witness the burgeoning nightclub scene their beloved music engulfs. After falling in love with the 1970s dance scene and with their eyes opened and horizons widened, the duo dream of touring America’s record stores and becoming DJs on the northern soul scene.

The film features an authentic soundtrack  including The Precisions, The Velvets, Shirley Ellis and Epitome of Sound.
