Like the words Essential”, “Celebrity” and “Diva”, the phrase “By Popular Demand” is nowadays routinely used to describe people and/or projects that, in reality, do little-to-nothing to justify such superlative hyperbole. Not here at Ace, of course when we say that something has been created specifically to satisfy the further cravings of our punters’ educated palates, we really do mean that it’s released “By Popular Demand”. That’s very definitely the case with this month’s follow-up to one of our best selling CDs of 2004, the award-nominated Kent release “A Soldier’s Sad Story”.”

Virtually from the moment that said CD hit the racks, we were besieged with enquiries as to when a follow-up volume would be released. In truth I had not originally planned to put a second volume together, feeling perhaps that the first one said everything that needed to be said, in terms of detailing the alpha and omega of black America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. However, I was more than aware that there were plenty of other sides that I could utilize to compile a package of equal strength and quality, if the world at large wanted one. The world did – and DOES ANYBODY KNOW I’M HERE?” is the result! – Ace Records
