Dayton were founded in 1980 by David Shawn Sandridge. From Dayton, Ohio, components of the group for the two albums we present here in 1980 and 1981 were: David Shawn Sandridge: Lead and Background Vocals, Lead and Rhythm Guitars, Horner D-6 Clavinet, Hell Talkbox, Percussion. David was an original member of the group Sun that began recording for Capitol Records in 1974. He later formed Magnum before founding Dayton, staying with them for all their albums and recording separately as a member of the group Colorblind in 1984. Chris Jones: Lead Vocals, Background Vocals, Fender Rhodes, Trumpet, Percussions. Chris was another founder member of Sun who left with David to form Magnum before becoming a permanent member of Dayton on all five of their albums as lead singer. Dean Hummons: Mini Moog, Prophet 5, Oberheim synthesizer, Arp synthesizer, Fender Rhodes, Horner D-6 clavinet, Hammond B-3 Organ, Acoustic Piano, Micro Moog, Percussion. Dean was the third original member of Sun who left, after a management dispute, to form Dayton and stayed with them for these two albums only.

Derrick Armstrong: Bass, Background Vocals. Derrick joined Dayton for these two albums only.

Jenny Douglas: Lead vocals, Background Vocals. Jenny sang with Dayton for these two albums only. She later sang backgrounds with artists including Janet Jackson and Keith Sweat.

John Hardin: drums, percussion. John appears with Dayton on just their 1980 debut album. James ‘Diamond’ Williams from The Ohio Players played drums on “Cutie Pie”.

Dayton became established after successful concert appearances with Quincy Jones, Stephanie Mills and Ashford & Simpson. From these recording sessions comes one of their biggest signature songs, “Eyes On You”. Also available on Expansion CD are their two latter albums “Hot Fun” and “Feel The Music”. .- Expansion
