The Checkmates LTD were a group discovered by Nancy Wilson. They had a massive US hit with Phil Spector produced “Black Pearl” in 1969. The group were lead by Sonny Charles who later had a solo hit with “Put It In A Magazine”.

The two songs “All Alone By The Telephone” and “Body Language” were arranged and produced by H.B. Barnum and comprise their one release for Polydor in 1976. An original sell for around £125.
H.B Barnum later produced a version of the song “All Alone By The Telephone” on J.B. Bingham.- Soul Brother
