• An eagerly anticipated
follow-up to the highly-acclaimed “Steal Away”, Kent’s first volume of the complete
surviving Fame recordings of Jimmy Hughes from 2009.
• “Why Not
Tonight” embraces this Alabama-born soul man’s original Fame/Atlantic album of that title,
seven non-album As and Bs and three originally unissued sides – two of which make their
worldwide debut here.
• It was on these
recordings that the celebrated Muscle Shoals sound really began to take shape and to define an era in
Southern soul music.
• A mix of ultra high
quality ballads and a raft of splendid dance cuts, many of which have remained unreissued for more than
40 years.
• Kent will round out the
Jimmy Hughes story later in 2010 with a CD of Jimmy’s complete Volt recordings that will include
14 unissued tracks, recorded in 1969 and 1970 in Muscle Shoals and Memphis.
